Mary J. Blige is poised to unveil her newest cinematic venture on Lifetime, as reported by Billboard.

In addition to Blige, Lisa Lisa and Gloria Gaynor will also be showcasing their own biopics.

Part of the network’s “Voices of a Lifetime” collection, Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair, a unique film, is set to make its debut on January 25.

The narrative, inspired by her renowned track “Family Affair”, chronicles the lives of Kendra and Ben, a couple who have made a fresh start in a new town, facing various challenges as they create their life together. The characters are brought to life by Ajiona Alexus and Da’Vinchi, who also serve as executive producers alongside Blige.

This film marks the third segment of Blige’s film saga. Earlier in 2023, she released Mary J. Blige’s Real Love followed by Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman scheduled for 2024.

On February 1, Can You Feel the Beat: The Lisa Lisa Story will be showcasing the life of Lisa Velez, a pioneering figure in Latin dance/electronica. This biopic focuses on the singer/songwriter’s journey with Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. Alongside Full Force, she produced numerous unforgettable hits such as “I Wonder If I Take You Home,” “Head to Toe,” “Lost in Emotion,” “All Cried Out”, and “Let the Beat Hit ‘Em.” Velez is played by Jearnest Corchado, who also takes on the role of her mother and serves as an executive producer.

On February 8, Robin Roberts Presents I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story will premiere. Known as the “Queen of Disco,” Gaynor’s life story will be told through the lens of her legendary anthem “I Will Survive.” The film features Tony Award winner Joaquina Kalukango in the role of Gaynor, and she also serves as an executive producer for the project. Kalukango previously appeared in Roberts’ Emmy-nominated biopic Mahalia. Lance Gross takes on the role of Gaynor’s husband and manager, Linwood Simon. Gaynor herself is an executive producer and has contributed an original song to the film.

After the movie airs, the documentary Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive will also be broadcast on the network.
