Tracy Morgan is indeed a legendary figure in comedy, though not particularly celebrated for his vocal talents.
During the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert, which premiered on Peacock on Friday (Feb. 14), Morgan humorously took aim at Lorne Michaels, the esteemed creator and executive producer of the iconic sketch comedy series, for denying him the opportunity to sing.
βIs everyone enjoying themselves?β βWell, Iβm not,β Morgan remarked to the audience at Radio City Music Hall.
βIβve been disrespected!β he went on. βLorne Michaels, you have disrespected me b*tch!β
The camera then captured Michaels, who was seen laughing at Morgan’s humorous jab.
βItβs a night filled with fantastic music, yet nobody invited me to sing β nobody!β Morgan quipped. βDis-res-pect!β
Seizing the moment at the microphone, Morgan delighted the audience with an impromptu vocal performance.
βI donβt care what Lorne Michaels thinks,β a defiant Morgan asserted, adding, βHeβs going to be dead in a week.β
βItβs true! I visited the Hamptons recently, and Lorne said, βIβm only going to remain alive until the 50th [season], and then Iβll kick the bucket.ββ
βI donβt care what Lorne Michaels thinks,β Morgan reiterated defiantly, adding, βHeβs going to be dead in a week.β
βItβs true! When I was in the Hamptons a while back, Lorne remarked, βIβm only going to stay alive until the 50th [season,] and then Iβm going to kick the bucket,β he continued.
When he requested Michaels to join him in song at the 50th anniversary celebration, Michaels replied, βI donβt even know youβ and then instructed him to βgo park Tina [Fey]βs car.β
βThatβs disrespect! He mistook me for Tinaβs chauffeur, which is absurd since everyone knows Tina prefers her drivers to be young and Dominican,β Morgan added.
Donβt miss the celebration of 50 years of comedy with SNL50: The Anniversary Special airing on Sunday, February 16, at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT on NBC, and available to stream on Peacock.
