Kendrick Lamar is gearing up for his eagerly awaited Super Bowl halftime show by launching a capsule collection in collaboration with Willy Chavarria.
Hypebeast reveals that Lamarβs company pgLang, Chavarria, and the NFL have teamed up to create the merchandise. The collection includes a satin jacket, hoodies, t-shirts, jerseys, and shorts.
Several items in the collection showcase lyrics from Lamarβs song βTV Off,β alongside βg.NATIONAL,β referencing his upcoming Grand National Tour with SZA.
Moreover, the collection features lightweight practice jerseys and drawstring mesh shorts, along with Super Bowl LIX hoodies and T-shirts designed by Felipe Merida that include other lyrics like βFoot Up On The Gas But Somebody Gotta Do It.β
In a statement, Chavarria discussed the inspiration driving the merchandise.
βThe idea behind this collection was simply to honor him and celebrate genuine β90s influences in fashion,β Chavarria stated. βItβs about how people of color integrated sportswear into the world of fashion.ββ β
This isnβt the first collaboration between Chavarria and Kendrick. Chavarria styled Lamarβs looks for his Big Steppers Tour and also for the βNot Like Usβ music video.
The upcoming Super Bowl performance and the capsule collection mark another milestone in Kendrickβs impressive career. As HOT97 previously shared, SZA will accompany Kendrick during his halftime show. A recent trailer released by Kendrick and Apple Music showcases the rapper walking on a football field when SZA unexpectedly splashes water from a bucket full of blue sports drink on him. The highly anticipated halftime event is set to occur at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9th.
Additionally, Kendrick and SZA will be hitting the road for the Grand National Tour starting in April.
