Freddie Gibbs Claims Drake & PartyNextDoor Took His Style 🎤

Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR are currently dealing with allegations of stealing intellectual property just as they are set to drop their joint project. On Thursday (February 13), Freddie Gibbs took to social media to imply that the pair potentially borrowed the title for their forthcoming album, $ome $exy $ongs 4U, from his 2022 release, $oul $old $eparately.

While Gibbs appeared annoyed, he started by downplaying his irritation. “Damn, they even swiped the rabbits too,” he tweeted, alluding to the visuals from his album. He later shared a snippet from his 2022 trailer, playfully ridiculing Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR with the caption, “$$$4U.” In another post, he referenced Soulja Boy, who notoriously accused Drake of imitating his style during a famous Breakfast Club interview.

Some fans brushed off Gibbs’ allegations, whereas others rallied in support. One user defended him but expressed skepticism, quoting an old Drake tweet from 2013 that stated, “$$$…the green persuader.” Another responded to Gibbs’ post with a picture of him and Drake, commenting, “This is part of his playbook.”

In addition to Gibbs’ claims, the duo is also under fire for allegedly borrowing the concept for their album’s cover art. A hip-hop fan account on Twitter noted resemblances between their artwork and the visuals of Canadian artist John River, who hails from Mississauga, where PARTYNEXTDOOR is also from.

The tweet mentioned that River met with PARTYNEXTDOOR and additional OVO members to discuss his music video for Hope City II. The discussions reportedly center around Mississauga’s Marilyn Monroe Towers, a notable landmark that features in both River’s video and the cover art for $ome $exy $ongs 4U.

As of now, neither Drake nor PARTYNEXTDOOR has addressed the allegations.
