Drake upholds his reputation for kindness. On Sunday (Feb. 9), during his inaugural performance at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, the God’s Plan artist delighted two fans with a remarkable total of $45,000 in cash.
During his performance, he spotted a woman in the audience with a sign that read “Adonis For President,” adorned with the OVO owl and a Canadian flag. Touched by the sentiment, he decided to respond with a surprise. “You’re showing a lot of love to my son, so on behalf of me and Adonis, we’re going to gift you 25 grand,” he declared.
Drake then noticed another fan displaying a sign that stated, “Kiss Me, It’s My Birthday.” While she was too distant for him to fulfill her request, he ensured she had something special to take home. “It’s a tough read on the kiss,” he joked, “but what I am going to do is give you 20 grand and cover a birthday dinner for you and all your friends.” He added an even more generous offer. “If you’d like, you can return to the show again. Both of you, if you want, we’ll arrange tickets for you.”

Drake’s philanthropy has been a central aspect of his It’s All a Blur Tour. Last year, he paid off the $160,000 mortgage of a fan’s deceased mother during one of his shows. His acts of kindness persist as he prepares to return to Rod Laver Arena for three additional nights beginning Monday (Feb. 10). Following that, the Anita Max Win Tour is set to move to Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena before concluding on March 16 in Auckland, New Zealand.
Moreover, fans can look forward to new music. His forthcoming collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, is scheduled to release on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14). After a tough 2024 that included a notable rap battle defeat to Kendrick Lamar, Drake is making a return to his R&B roots—one of the few genres where he consistently excels.
