T-Pain has a perspective on $ome $exy $ongs, the fresh collaborative album by Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR. He speculates that the project may feature tracks that were previously recorded rather than entirely original songs.
In a recent livestream, T-Pain expressed his views, theorizing that Drake repurposed existing songs to ensure PARTYNEXTDOOR’s continued involvement. βI feel like Drake recorded a lot of material,β he remarked. βAnd to keep PARTY engaged, he probably suggested, βHere, take 10 or 15 of these tracks, add a verse, and thatβs our album.ββ He reassured that his comments weren’t intended as a critique of the albumβs quality.
βIβm not implying that the songs are subpar,β he clarified. βThese are simply tracks that didn’t make the cut for other albums. Or perhaps PARTY presented Drake with an album and requested him to contribute verses.β
No matter their origins, $ome $exy $ongs has already achieved significant success. According to Billboard, the 21-track LP has shattered the record for the largest first-day streams for an R&B/soul album in the history of Apple Music. Released on Valentineβs Day, the album boasts guest features from Yebba and Chino Pacas.
One highlight of the album can be found in GIMME A HUG, where Drake references Melyssa Ford and Joe Budden. He extols Ford, a former music video star and co-host of Buddenβs podcast, dubbing her a βlegend from the 6.β Conversely, he throws shade at Budden, tossing a crude insult his way.
Ford acknowledged that she was still processing the mention but later adjusted her Instagram bio to celebrate the compliment. βIβm not sure what heβs aiming for,β she remarked on Buddenβs podcast. βI canβt read his mind.β Meanwhile, Budden took the jab in stride, simply saying, βI was happy.β
