Mariah Carey Nominated for 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 🎤

Mariah Carey is nearing the possibility of being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The iconic singer/songwriter is part of the 2025 nominees eligible for enshrinement. Alongside Carey, the nominees include Outkast, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, Phish, The Black Crowes, and Oasis, as well as Soundgarden, Billy Idol, Maná, Joe Cocker, and Joy Division/New Order.

A celebrated vocalist with an impressive five-octave range, Carey is recognized as one of the all-time greatest singers. Among her numerous achievements, she has sold over 220 million records globally and holds the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles by a solo artist (19), a female songwriter (18), and a female producer (15). Furthermore, Carey is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, having won 5 Grammy Awards, a Grammy Global Impact Award, 10 American Music Awards, and 20 Billboard Music Awards.

Making their debut in 1994 with Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, Outkast are pioneers of the Atlanta rap scene and are hailed as one of the greatest rap groups in history. Their double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (2003) earned the Album of the Year title at the 46th Annual Grammy Awards.

As per eligibility guidelines, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to being considered for induction.

Over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry experts will cast their votes for the finalists. The selection criteria take into account an artist’s influence on fellow musicians, the breadth and durability of their career, their body of work, as well as their innovation and stylistic excellence.

Additional nominees will be revealed and will be recognized by the select committee across the Musical Influence, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award categories.

The induction ceremony is expected to occur in Los Angeles this fall.
