Shannon Sharpe and his older brother, Sterling, made history with his recent induction into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. On Thursday (Feb. 6), the NFL shared a clip online featuring the jubilant inductees receiving that memorable knock at the door. However, for the Sharpe brothers, it was a moment filled with personal significance. In a touching scene, The Club Shay Shay host visited Sterling’s home to deliver the exciting news. βWelcome bro,β Shannon welcomes his brother, his joy evident through the screen.
βTo your house?β Sterling replies, moving in for a heartfelt embrace with his younger brother. Shannon had previously been inducted over a decade ago in 2011. βTo the Pro Football Hall Of Fame Class Of 2025,β Shannon answered, as the two exchanged another warm hug. The official induction ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
βI had to follow him to get to where Iβm going,β Shannon Sharpe says regarding his admiration for his brother
Sterling enjoyed a notable career as a wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Sadly, the five-time Pro Bowl standout’s career was cut short due to a neck injury. Fortunately, his younger brother Shannon thrived as a tight end for both the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens.
Shannon has always looked up to his older brother for paving the way for him. On a recent live episode of his Nightcap podcast with Chad βOchocincoβ Johnson, Shannon heartfully shared the significance of his brother’s influence. βPeople ask why [I get emotional] because I had to follow him to get to where Iβm going,β Sharpe expressed to the audience. βI got to walk in his footsteps. Almost everything I learned, I learned from him.β
He further remarked: βFor my brother to accomplish what he did without an instruction manual and to guide me to where I am now.β
